Alison* is a FREE learning resource of interactive content for certification based learning. The learning is provided free of charge to individual learners. The mission of Alison* is to provide FREE quality interactive learning on every subject via the Internet and so provide FREE access to learning to whoever wherever at any time.

Digital Enterprise
This course is composed by a series of modules that follow the ECDL syllabus, plus it provides IT-related health and safety awareness, and improves touch typing proficiency. Digital skills are needed for almost every job function in a modern competitive economy. Companies are becoming ever-more reliant on those skills being acquired by all of their employees and not just managers.-
Alison ABC IT (1-2-3)
This is the best place to start, as it a comprehensive basic IT-skills course and certification. The free course is divided into three separate sections as follows:- ABC IT-1 (Basic Concepts): Introduces the learner to the very basic concepts of computing and teaches how computing can be an everyday feature of life and work. This module introduces the learner to computer hardware and software for the first time and also taught the key concepts of the Information Technoloty (IT), followed by an introduction to the world of Microsoft Windows computing, before ending with a module teaching the learner all about the online world, including how to use the World Wide Web and e-mail.
- ABC IT-2 (Applications): Introduces the learner to the Microsoft Office 2003 application suite, the most commonly used office-software application package worldwide. This suite includes MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
- ABC IT-3 (Practical Skills): Explores some of the practical elements of computing. IT-3 covers three important elements of computing namely: basic touch typing; setting up and using a Webmail address; and desktop ergonomics, which teaches how best to organize one’s working environment for safe use.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Training
You will be trained in all basic aspects of surfing the World Wide Web, how to accomplish common Web search tasks, and how to use Web-based forms to interact with a Web site. - How to use GMail
This course uses the Web-based e-mail service from Google™ called Gmail™, (Google Mail in the UK and Germany), to introduce you to the basics of e-mail. Gmail is an e-mail service which is accessed directly via the Web, and is not dependent on your using software loaded on your own personal computer (e.g. Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird). A major advantage of Web-based e-mail is that you can access your e-mail from any Internet-connected computer anywhere in the world. - Identity Theft
Identity theft is an increasingly common crime. Fortunately there are many preventative measures you can take to substantially reduce the chance of your identity being stolen, as well as steps you can take to minimize damage if you become a victim of this crime. This programme will give you the tools to protect yourself and your staff by highlighting the issues around identity theft. - Touch Typing Skills
