Chapter Two: Princess Check
Later that day was PE, so all of us got moody because today it was the weirdest dance ever – Irish dancing! But 4th period was next and everyone knows what that meant – English! So after we had finished all our toe taping, pretty prancing boredom, we got dressed into our school clothes again and started to walk to the English block. Me and Lila were brimming over with excitement, chatting about how Nick asked me if I wanted to sit next to him, but all I said was that I would see. Isn't that another stupid mistake? I would say it was!
Anyway, that's where it happened. I was outside English with a huge grin on my face, chatting to my mates but just then my friends stopped chatting and laughing and stopped still where they were standing, while I was standing there like an idiot laughing and saying “What?” But little did I know that Nick was behind me.
He tapped me on the shoulder, so by the reaction of my friends faces, I spun round to see what or who was behind me and ended up swerving. By mistake of course! (That's mistake number 3 now!) Anyway, he said had I made up my mind about me sitting next to him, but calmly I said that there was no need to be cheeky, but yes I would. When he went back to his mates, I looked at him and then back at my mates, that's when I saw the huge grins on their faces and I let out a little squeak! One so small so that he didn't hear me! Just at that moment, my mates did too!
It was now time for the bell. As it rang, Nick came over, bowed and said “Your hand, my lady”, so I took his hand and went in. I just laughed and let him lead me in. As we walked in, everyone wolf whistled and clapped, but Nick didn't say anything, so I didn't either as it was quite funny. We sat at the middle desks with Lila and Michael sitting next to each other on the desks in front of us. How did class go, you may ask? Well, for your answer – fabulously! At first, everyone thought we were going out, but Lila set ‘em straight. But what surprised me is that those words were taking over my happiness “reality check”.
Eventually I managed to forget that and started to have fun. The next thing that happened was that it was now reading time and we were reading a book (a great book if I may say so myself) called ‘Room 13'. It was quite scary but really funny. Well, we had gotten from pages 147 to 160 in a quarter of the lesson. Then came a really scary bit and I let out a squeal and my hand jumped onto Nick's by accident. But all he did was laugh and say don't worry it's only a book. At that moment, I was so embarrassed that I could have died. But later he asked me if I wanted to go to a party with him and his best mate on the weekend. I felt so embarrassed that I said I was busy. He seemed to know how I was feeling, so he backed off!
You'll have to wait until the next Cookie Club newsletter to find out what happens next!

Read books on the toilet,
Read books in bed.
Read books in the bath,
Read books in your head.
Read books eating dinner,
Read books at school.
Read books at the library,
Read books is a rule.

When eight of us joined the Cookie Club,
We couldn't think of a name,
And we all decided it would be,
The Cookie Club (we're insane!)
Each month we go to the Library,
And we all sit there munching away.
To discuss authors and books,
With our cookies, what a day!
Our names are Lianne and Lucie,
Sophie H and Sophie S too,
Jennifer and Georgia and Jessica,
Hayley and Karen too!
A Scary Short-Story
By Georgia, 10
Night was falling, fast! A shadowy figure could be seen outside the walls of Castle Centeral. A lady in a long lilac dress was meeting up with this figure. Little did she know was that this shadowy, untrustful person was a ….MURDERER! The lady was Queen Rita, spouse of King Lucas.
Queen Rita had received a note from her sister saying:
Dear Sis,
Meet my husband outside the castle. It is a surprise baby shower present. Make sure you're not followed.
Love Edna
From the desk of Edna LIsue
As Rita got closer, the murderer produced a knife, then hid it under his long black cloak. He then put on a pair of black sunglasses (which clashed really well with his stubbly hair)
“Good evening Madam”, the murderer spoke in a low, dark voice.
“Good evening”, Rita replied, a little shakily
“Now I trust you weren't followed?”
“No”
“Good, that's very good!” The murderer raised his dagger.
“Aaagggggh!”
The morning sun peeked over the Dazeday mountains. It slit through baby Miley's windows. The sun made her rosy cheeks grow pinker.
In the next room Miley's father, king Lucas, was reading a very disturbing letter. It explained that his wife had been killed the night before, something about a coach crash. Her body had been found in the carriage at 2am. Lucas looked at his watch, 7am. Five hours had passed since the accident. Lucas was having a mid life crisis. The death of his wife made it a full life crisis. Much worse, how would be bring up a child single-handed? That was when he made a decision. He needed a new wife!

I went up to the loft; the ladder was creaking really loudly, so I didn't think it was very strong. At that moment, I stopped and thought, I'm not allowed up here, am I? Once I had my head high, I started to walk again. It was so dark, dusty and cold, I needed to sneeze, but I dared not to. I turned the light switch but nothing happened. In the corner of my eye I saw a red shiny torch. I picked it up and switched it on, I was hoping it would work and it did. Everything I saw was covered in dusty sheets. Something was moving in the corner, on the ceiling. It flapped, it squeaked, it made me scream, I knew what it was but I didn't want to know. I crawled deeper into the loft. I was so terrified of the sight of a green and purple blotchy hand, that popped out from the beam, with a head that followed. I ran back to the loft door and ran down the steps, lifted the ladder and slammed it shut, and locked it. I was so scared…
