ICT Helpsheets
Hillingdon Libraries Learning Team have written a series of helpsheets to help you get the most out of the library PCs, and in starting to learn how to use a PC in general.
The helpsheets are divided into four categories:
-
Getting Started: find out how to book the library PCs, and which software is available on them.
-
Beginners: start using computers by learning how to use the mouse and Windows, basic word processing, Internet and email.
-
Intermediate: discover e-learning and the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), scanning images and editable text (OCR), basic image manipulation, digital photography, CD-burning, Google Earth, file compression, screen capture, and the basic concepts of building a website.
-
Advanced: would you like to improve your skills or fill a gap on your CV? Our e-learning courses can help you, whether you would like to gain the ECDL Advanced qualification or learn about web design, programming languages and much more. Here you will also find help using Supernova Screen Reader and Magnifier.
All helpsheets are in Adobe PDF format, and you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC in order to be able to view these files. Should you wish to have a printed copy of any of the Helpsheets please ask at your local library where pages can be purchased for 50p per A4 page. Alternatively if you like to purchase a complete set or a selection of pages, please contact Helen Vincent.
All helpsheets marked with the smiley symbol are intended to be used as reference only - do not try to memorise them!
