Learning Collections

Hillingdon Libraries have Learning Collections in 7 of our 17 libraries - Central Library (Uxbridge), Harlington, Hayes, Ruislip Manor, West Drayton, Yeading and Yiewsley.

In each collection you will find a wide variety of materials in stock, ranging from books, CD-ROMs, Videos, DVDs, Book, CD & Cassette packs and much more.

The collections are aimed at anyone wishing to improve their skills in English (literacy), ICT and Maths (numeracy). Look out for the cube logos in your local library.

The collections are organised into five broad categories to help you to find what you are looking for:

• LC: Basic IT: a selection of titles to help you learn new or improve your ICT skills. Includes materials for CLAIT, ECDL, Advanced ECDL, Publisher, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and HTML.

• LC: English Support: a selection of titles to help you improve your English skills - grammar, listening, writing, reading, vocabulary, punctuation as well as English courses and IELTS.

• LC: Graded Readers: a selection of books, books and cassette packs, book, CD and cassette packs, group readers ideal for classroom reading. This category is further split into Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.

• LC: Skills for Life: a selection of titles to help you with living in the UK everyday. The collection includes books to help you with filling in forms, writing a CV, driving theory tests, applying for a job, interview skills, Maths and Numeracy skills.

• LC: Family Learning: a selection of titles to help you and your children learn together - reading, writing, maths, ICT and learning a language.

All materials are free to borrow with a Hillingdon Library Card. It is free to join the library - ask a member of staff for an application form.
